Another great trip back to the old sod. I only had the chance to take out my camera on one day, which was the last and most photogenic. An amazing double rainbow followed by an even better sunset over the west coast of Ireland.
A long July weekend to celebrate my birthday. This time to the most easterly point of North America, St Johns. An absolute beautiful corner of the world. The weather wasn’t the best most of the time, but the fog made a welcome addition to the lighthouse shots.
Joshua Tree will live long in my memories, unfortunately photos will never compare to what we saw when we were there. A Black & White conversion was needed to capture the essence of a landscape that hasn’t changed in thousands of years.
A simply amazing part of the world. A very welcoming and amazingly friendly community. In a 17th century chateau in the Bordeaux countryside it gave me the opportunity to get some night sky photography, and there may have been a glass or two of wine involved over the week.
An amazing trip back to the homeland for the first time since 2018. It was great to see my family and my friends that I still dearly miss. Kinsale was our base simply because of the sightseeing that we could take advantage of, Charles Fort, Timoleague Abbey, (a closed) Mizen Head, Midleton Distillery and finishing up with a night in the capital, Dublin.
Another trip to Canada, but this time to a wet and cold Halifax. Peggy’s Cove was simply superb, but hard to photograph because of the frigid temperatures. The Citadel in the city itself, was a nice hike up to, and I arrived just in time for a cannon blast. Again the temperature is not something that I’m used to, so photos were a rarity.
We spent a nice weekend at Lake Waccamaw, NC. Using a wide angle lens to capture these shots and I was amazed at the results. I’ll need to go back and get some more photos.
It was the first snow day of the year and luckily it was on a weekend. I couldn’t let the day go by without grabbing the camera. However next time, I’ll be sure wear warmer clothing.
Another amazing trip to St. Augustine. This time to celebrate Joy’s birthday with friends and family from near and afar. It’s always an experience to see the Nights of Lights.
After the clocks went back, our dogs didn’t get the memo. However it made me get up and see a fantastic sunrise.
My first visit to Canada. A weekend trip, so we decided to stay around Banff. I crossed another off of my bucket list: walking across a frozen lake. Simply amazing!!!
A fast-paced but fantastic few days in Utah. A long drive from Salt Lake City to Zion via Red Canyon, Bryce Canyon and back. But well worth it, I can’t wait to go back again.
Surrounded by Lake Lanier, an hour from the Appalachian Trail and an hour from Atlanta. Gainesville has been our home since 2010. Summers are hot, but Fall and Spring are simply amazing.
The images on this page are from my last few trips home (actually there are a few here which go back about 10 years). Blarney Castle and its grounds were absolutely beautiful between the showers. The Ring of Kerry is always an eye-opener, and completely different every time.
St. Augustine, FL is Joy’s hometown and always a great place to visit. I always try and get to see at least one sunrise at the beach, and another at the bayfront.
Another quick trip, this time it was Las Vegas. I managed to avoid the casinos and concentrate on the sights. A day in Red Rock Canyon was a complete joy and ruined unfortunately when I lost my car keys on a hike.
A visit to Yosemite was always on my bucket list, but this visit was too quick. We only managed a day there. I cannot wait to go back again.
These are images which were taken over a few different trips to California. Joy has managed to swim Alcatraz 3 times so I get to go along a get a few shots in the days building up to the swims.
Tucson, AZ. One of our favorite places to go. I would live there in an instant.
Yet another very short trip, this time was a day in Olympia, WA. Another one for the ‘must go back to’ list.
We spent 2 days in Yellowstone and only got to see a fraction of it. I have to admit that driving there scared the bejesus out of me, you never knew what would be around the next bend.
We managed to see quite a lot of Europe when we lived there, unfortunately we never got to see enough of it.
As a part of our Outdoor Photography class, Macro Photography was one of the lessons. It requires the use of a tripod to eliminate the movement of the subject, but I’m too impatient to set it up. These photographs are all hand-held.
When you think of a “Napa Weekend”, wine is the immediate thought. Not for me, I spent the days exploring and hiking. One of the days was a complete storm, so I felt right at home. This is another place to return to.
